Chris's photographic diorama is 17
Chris's photographic diorama is 17" x 10" and formed from a free wood off-cut. The backdrop seen in later pictures is simply a nice bright sky taken from the pages of a holiday brochure! Various items of street furniture such as post and telephone boxes, bus shelters and street lighting can be placed strategically to add to the atmosphere. The brackets are used to to allow the fixing of a slip of balsa wood with a section of OO scale railway track to allow railway models to be featured.

The pavement is 1/12th scale brick-embossed plasticard mounted on balsa wood and painted grey. The embankment was made by placing cardboard formers every couple of inches to the desired contour, filled with shredded paper and then covered with mod-roc plaster bandage. Once dry a coat of all purpose filler (pound shop) was smoothed over the top.

A coat of dark brown paint was then added to the embankment which was a cheap tester pot from B&Q. Various grades of scatter material were then added over the top stuck down with dilute PVA glue. Once this was dry a coarser grade was added and stuck down by spraying with extra hold hair spray, the cheaper the stickier!!!!. The road is fine grit wet and dry paper, again from the pound shop. The retaining wall is stone-embossed plasticard mounted on balsa wood.

A panel between the decks has been replaced and is still in undercoat and has obviously been done without replacing the advert.
