Tony Teuili’s Car 4055 is a 1912 Boston articulated car built from two obsolete "box" cars with a new centre section. Colloquially known as "two rooms and a bath", they reduced platform costs by increasing capacity with the same crew. Strangely enough, the new Citadis and Combino LRVs (Light Rail Vehicles) use the same concept today. I understand the riding qualities mirror those of the 1912 car! Tony Tieuli’s Boston type 5 cars 5800 and 5654 were made from kits available in the 1960's. They represent a car type that numbered 471 in Boston, USA, and which ran until 1959. This photo was taken at the Roslindale Club in front of a waiting shed made by Charlie Pitts, a fellow club member. It is a faithful representation of the original at the Arborway in Jamaica Plain (a section of the City of Boston). 2009-07-24 00:00:00 |
This Corgi car was stripped and repainted by Tony Tieuli in Connecticut Company colours in June 2009. This livery was supposed to be the next released by Corgi before the company was taken over by Hornby. Corgi had released a Baltimore, Philadelphia, Fort Collins (Colorado), Steinway Lines (NYC), and Chicago Surface Lines versions before the series foundered. 2009-07-20 01:50:00 |
On the way to completion - Tony had, at this stage, to add a few more details, but it is essentially ready for painting 2009-07-27 16:54:00 |
The photo showing the stripped car was refinished as an Eastern Massachusetts State Railway car 0000-00-00 00:00:00 |
